Recycled cardboard boxes|Cardboard boxes for packing

Where should you put cardboard boxes to be recycled?

Cardboard boxes are used by businesses and the public also because they are versatile items that have many great uses, including moving homes, moving offices, shipping via postal service, and storing things too. Depending on whether you are a business or a member of the public, there are different methods of making sure your large boxes for moving house are recycled. Over 84% of boxes are recycled in the UK today, so it is important to follow the trend.

  • If you have used heavy duty boxes for moving house, then you have several options to make sure your boxes are recycled. You can put them in your household recycling box, but they will only accept a few at a time each week, and they have to be flat packed, so you’ll need to cut off the tape and fold them down flat. You could put a few in there each week, which is fine if you don’t have many.
  • You could take your house removal packing boxes to a recycling center, which is commonly used for household recycling waste. They usually have a skip dedicated to recycling cardboard and paper, and this is free of charge. It is practical if you have lots of boxes to recycle, and there is a recycling center near to your home.
  • If you are a business or office that has lots of boxes on a regular basis, then you can have contracts with local recycling plants. They will often do this for free, and will actually provide you with special bins and skips to store your waste paper and cardboard in, and they will come every week or several weeks to collect the waste that you have for recycling.
  • Another location that you can take your cardboard packing boxes for moving house for recycling is local supermarkets. Not all supermarkets will offer this service, but sometimes they do. It means you can often find an area to place your waste paper and cardboard to ensure they are recycled that is close to home. They will have a small skip somewhere in the car park usually, and it is next to the clothing recycling skip too.

No matter where or how you choose to recycle your cardboard, it always needs to be flattened before it is accepted so that it does not take up much room. It also helps to fit them into your car this way, so make sure you flatten boxes before taking them to be recycled.
